Marcelo Bucheli (PhD Stanford) is a business and economic historian who teaches at the Gies College of Business, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA. He has taught MBA students business history at Harvard Business School and global strategy at the University of Illinois and the Wharton School (University of Pennsylvania). His research focuses on the political strategies of multinational corporations, the political economy of the global commodity markets, the role of governments in promoting globalization, and the integration of management and historical research. He has held fellowships at Harvard Business School, Henley Business School (University of Reading, UK), and a visiting professorship at the Ecole Polytechnique (Paris, France). He has published several award-winning articles and has received several teaching awards. Marcelo was born in Venezuela and grew up in Chile, Ecuador, and Colombia. He earned a BA and an MA in Economics from Universidad de los Andes (Colombia).
